Moving Meditation with Naropa
Saturday, June 15, 2019 2:00 PM
Boulder Creek Path at 17th Street (West side, at picnic table there)
Join Boulder Walks and Naropa University for a joyful, free afternoon contemplative practice of walking meditation, followed by a guided sitting meditation. We will walk from Boulder High School along the gorgeous Boulder Creek path to the peaceful seclusion of the Naropa University campus green. Upon our arrival, we will create a circle of intention before beginning our guided sitting meditation. We will end with a bow, and then enjoy tea and light refreshments before an informal social walk back to Boulder High School.
Start: Boulder Creek Path at 17th Street (west side), next to Boulder High School and west of the underpass.
End: Naropa University - 2130 Arapahoe Avenue (option to walk back to the starting point with the group at 3:30 pm).
Walking Movement Leaders: Naropa University Sustainability Director Michael Bauer will lead the walking meditation and Naropa meditation faculty will lead the sitting meditation. Darcy Kitching, core owner of the Walk2Connect Co-op, will support this contemplative walking experience.
Schedule, Planning and Nearby Transit:
2:00-2:30 PM: Silent walking meditation from Boulder High School to Naropa University
2:30-3:15 PM: Guided sitting meditation at the Naropa campus
3:15 PM: Tea and light refreshments
We strongly encourage participants to use low-impact modes of transportation like walking, cycling (try B-Cycle!) or mass transit. There is an RTD bus stop for the JUMP route directly in front of Boulder High School. Get off the JUMP bus at the Boulder High stop. Walk half a block east to 17th, turn right, walk half a block south to where 17th Street crosses over the Boulder Creek Path. Turn right and down onto the Creek Path ramp where you will see us gathered at some picnic tables.
If driving, park on Athens Street, off of 17th. Walk back toward 17th, turn left and walk half a block south to where 17th street crosses over the Boulder Creek Path. Turn left and walk down to the creek path, then turn 180 degrees to the right to cross under 17th and join us on the west side at the picnic tables.
